Aparajita teaches the Sivananda Yoga class, which begins with focus on breath, and stimulates each chakra in the body through a series of poses, ending with deep relaxation. You can expect to leave the class feeling like you got a great workout, a blissful internal massage and a lovely meditative rest.
Aparajita likes to focus on breath throughout the class, and helps students find the beautiful balance of a sthiram (steady) and sukham (happy) practice.
As a young girl, Aparajita enjoyed yoga, track and gymnastics. As a young adult, she studied and taught fitness and jazz dancing for 10 years with a reputed choreographer. An injury in dance class roused her curiosity about what keeps the body healthy. So she enrolled in a Sports Medicine course to study what lies within, and the journey within continued beyond the body.
She rediscovered her love for hatha yoga with senior Iyengar teachers in Mumbai, learning to discipline the mind and body, as well as correct postural alignment and provide balance for over-trained or weak muscles, through her restorative Iyengar practice.
She then trained as a Sivananda teacher and truly enjoyed the meditative aspect of this system, immersing deep within - whether on her own, in a group, or as a teacher. She is on her mat every single day, come rain or shine, and the inner peace and strength it has given her is valued and shared as a gift from the primordial Yogi, Lord Siva.
